Diamonds Are Everywhere. Transformation Is Rare.
A coaching client said something to me recently: “So many diamonds in this call. Now to action them so they don’t get wasted.”
And he’s right.
We can access more knowledge in one day than previous generations could access in years. Yet anxiety, overwhelm, procrastination and self-doubt remain common.
Why?
Because information and transformation are not the same thing.
A person who reads fifty books on confidence but never speaks up is still stuck.
A person who reads one paragraph and acts on it can change their life.
THE GAP BETWEEN KNOWING AND DOING
Many of us are walking around with pockets full of diamonds.
The podcast that inspired us.
The book that changed our perspective.
The coaching session that gave us clarity.
The workshop that gave us an “aha” moment.
The conversation that made us see something about ourselves differently.
The problem isn’t a lack of knowledge.
The problem is that the diamonds are still sitting in our pockets.
We have the knowledge. We can see the possibility. But nothing changes until we do something with what we’ve learned.
So how do we move from insight to implementation without turning it into another overwhelming list of things we should be doing?
SPOT THE DIAMOND
What was the biggest insight?
Not the twenty things you learned.
The one thing that make you sit up and think: “Ouch. That’s me.”
That’s your diamond.
CHOOSE ONE DIAMOND
One of the reasons we struggle to implement what we learn is that we try to implement everything at once.
Instead ask yourself: “If I acted on only one thing from today, what would make the biggest difference?”
You don’t need to action everything.
You need to action something meaningful.
CUT IT SMALL
Big actions create resistance.
Small actions create momentum.
If your insight is that you need to move your body more, you don’t have to suddenly commit to an hour at the gym every day. Start with a twenty minute walk.
If you’ve realised you need to have a difficult conversation, you don’t have to solve the entire relationship today. Start by getting clear on what you actually need to say.
Make the action small enough that you will actually do it.
DO IT WITHIN 48 HOURS
Take one action within 48 hours.
Not the perfect action or all the steps to complete the whole thing.
One action.
Because every day that passes makes implementation less likely.
The insight fades. Life gets busy. You tell yourself you’ll do it tomorrow. The excitement disappears.
The diamond stays in your pocket.
CREATE EVIDENCE
Every action creates evidence.
Every time you take action, especially when its uncomfortable, your brain starts collecting new evidence.
Evidence that: you can do challenging things, you can survive discomfort, you can trust yourself, you can handle uncertainty, you can do things differently.
This is how momentum is built.
Over time, what once felt uncomfortable starts feeling natural.
You don’t just know you can do something. You’ve got evidence that you can.
That’s how transformation happens.
NOW WHAT WILL YOU DO?
Every coaching session, workshop, book, podcast and conversation can contains diamonds.
The question isn’t whether the diamonds are there.
The question is what will you do with the diamonds.
Insight can make you think.
Implementation changes your life.
What’s one diamond you’ve been carrying in your pocket?
And more importantly……
What are you going to do with it in the next 48 hours?
READY TO DO SOMETHING WITH IT?
If you’re ready to stop collecting insights and start actually making changes, this is the work I do in my identity coaching and bridging work.
We look at the patterns that keep you playing small, opting out or talking yourself out of what you really want and we work on changing them at the level they’re actually happening.
Because knowing what you should do isn’t always the problem.
The real work is understanding what keeps getting in the way of doing it.
If you’re done with your own excuses running the show, book a free insight call.
We’ll discuss what you want to change, what’s been getting in the way, and how I can help you move from knowing to doing.
Life is too short and too magical to stay stuck where you don’t want to be.
